Morphettville Races Review : 30th January 2021

Jockey Jess Eaton increased her lead to ten on the jockey’s premiership when she rode Echoes in Eternity to victory in the 1100 metre opening race at Morphettville on Saturday.

A $2000 buy the Michael Hickmott trained Echoes In Eternity  settled well in a midfield position before going on to record her second win from four starts and will have her next run in a three-year-old race on Adelaide Cup Day, March 8.

Mount Gambier trainer Peter Hardacre continued his good run when the second time starter Chill with Teejay landed her first win in the 1050 metre second race.

Ridden by Karl Zechner Chill with Teejay was well placed and seen running on before going on to win.

Jockey Todd Pannell was seen at his best when he rode Medieval Miss to a win in the 1800 metre third race.

Coming out of the Plumpton stable of Patrick Payne Medieval Miss came from well back with a late run to win.

Fresh from a holiday with his family on the Gold Coast jockey Todd Pannell brought up a running double when Soul Obsession took out the 1050 metre fourth race.

Being under the care of Paula Trenwith while in Adelaide, the Anthony and Sam Freedman prepared Soul Obsession came from well back with a confident late run to win.

Morphettville trainer Travis Doudle was well pleased with the win of his charge Struck By in the 1530 metre fifth race.

Coming out of gate one the Paul Gatt ridden Struck By was not far off the lead for the entire race.

Behemoth came through the listed Durbridge Stakes of 1100 metres in fine fettle.

Being under the care of Goolwa trainer David Jolly and giving Todd Pannell his third winner for the day Behemoth came from a midfield position with a strong run over the concluding stages.

After being a late scratching at his previously intended start at Gawler last week Taken Off returned to the winners list when he took out the 1200 metre seventh race.

Coming out of the Phillip Stokes stable at Morphettville and guided to victory by Kayla Crowther, Taken Off came from the back half of the field with a strong run over the concluding stages.

Todd Pannell landed his fourth winner for the afternoon when Black Sail took out the 1600 metre eighth race.

Being under the care of the duo training combination of Ciaren Maher and David Eustace Black Sail led all the way to bring up his sixth win from thirty seven starts.

The win of Echo Boomer in the final event gave trainer Patrick Payne his second Adelaide winner for the day at Morphettville bringing his tally to two and a half wins after a dead-heat in the last race at Caulfield between Defibrillate and Hang Man.

Guided to victory by Lachlan Neindorf, Echo Boomer came from a worse than midfield position with a strong run late in the 1600 metre event.
