Murray Bridge Races Review on 18th June 2022

Apprentice Sophie Logan got the day off to a flying start for the young guns when she rode Calypso Reign to a win in the opening race of 1000 metres at Murray Bridge on Saturday.

Coming out of the Goolwa stable of David Jolly Calypso Reign  came from third to take out the event in a close finish.

Jockey Brend Vorster opened up a break of nine wins over his rivals in the jockey's premiership when he rode Zou Sensation to a win in the 1200 metre second race.

Prepared by Leon and Troy Corstens at Flemington Zou Sensation  was one off the pace before getting to the lead late in the event.

Resuming from a spell the Victorian three-year-old filly Sigh made it two successive wins when she took out the 1000 metre third race.

Trained at Pakenham by Peter Moody and having the services of Paul Gatt Sigh came from the rear of the field putting in a strong run late in the event to win.

The father and son training combination of Leon and Troy Corstens landed the second leg of an early double when Lumber Punk won the 1200 metre fourth race.

Ridden by apprentice Ben Price Lumber Punk  raced in a forward position and drew away to win late in the event.

Barend Vorster landed his second winner for the day when Aiguilette took out the 1400 metre fifth race.

Prepared by John Macmillan at Strathalbyn Aiguilette  came from well back with a strong rails-run win to meet with success.

My Ruby  brought up her first win in over 850 days and gave her rider Barend Vorster his third winner for the day in the 1000 metre sixth race.

Trained by Wayne Francis and Glen Kent My Ruby was in the first two before going on to win.

Paul Gatt brought up his second winner when Aussie Sojourn won the 2000 metre seventh race.

Being under the care of Peter Blanch at Morphettville Aussie Sojourn came from near last with a strong run late in the event.
