Queensland have thrashed Victoria by 92 runs in the Marsh Cup, thanks to a brilliant 80 from debutant Sam Truloff and a four-wicket haul from Gurinder Sandhu.

Sam Truloff enjoyed a memorable one-day debut as Queensland thumped Victoria by 92 runs in the Marsh Cup.

Truloff starred with a brilliant 80 in his team's 6-285, after the Bulls lost the toss and were sent in at St Kilda.

In reply, Victoria were bundled out for 193 in the 39th over with former Australia ODI bowler Gurinder Sandhu snaring 4-42.

The visitors found themselves in a spot of bother at 4-126 in the 28th over, but the 28-year-old Truloff combined with skipper Jimmy Peirson in a 102-run stand to rescue the innings.

Truloff's 85-ball knock included seven boundaries and a maximum while Peirson made 56, in an innings that included three fours and three sixes.

Former Australian Test opening bat Matthew Renshaw also chipped in with a valuable 57.

Henry Thornton was Victoria's most successful bowler, claiming 3-45.

The hosts made an enterprising start with MacKenzie Harvey (32) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (35) adding 58 in under nine overs.

With ODI star Glenn Maxwell still to come, the hosts would have fancied their chances, but enter Sandhu.

In two match-changing deliveries, the former NSW paceman bowled Maxwell between bat and pad for two and then removed Jonathan Merlo for a duck.

Nic Maddinson was the only other batter to offer any resistance, his 52 coming off 64 balls.

Sandhu also had Will Sutherland (16) caught by Renshaw before Henry Thornton was snaffled by James Bazley to complete his four-wicket haul.
