SUMMARY: Bat continued to dominate ball in Rawalpindi as Australia resumed at 0-5 and took their score to 2-271 before bad light stopped play. David Warner and Usman Khawaja put on 156 for the first wicket, ensuring the hosts would not be able to roll through Australia. Warner eventually went, before Khawaja was denied a century in his first Test in the nation of his birth when he was caught at bat-pad for 97. Marnus Labuschagne was on 69no when the darkness set in, with Steve Smith on 24.

MAN OF THE MOMENT: Usman Khawaja. While he narrowly missed out on a fairytale century less than an hour's drive down the road from where he was born, he still continued his triumphant return to Test cricket. After twin tons at the SCG ensured Khawaja would head to Pakistan, he played all around the ground and looked assured before being caught trying to reverse sweep Nauman Ali.

KEY MOMENT: Fawad Alam putting down Usman Khawaja at gully on 22. Australia were 0-40 at the time that Shaheen Shah Afridi drew his edge, but Fawad dropped what was a regulation catch. Pakistan needed an early breakthrough to have a shot at ripping through Australia, and that was their chance.

STAT OF THE DAY: The 124.5 runs averaged per wicket in this Test is on track to be the second highest of all-time, behind the 136.12 in a Test between India and Pakistan in 2006.
