BMW PGA Championship tips: Can Jon Rahm find form?

One the jewels in the crown of the DP World Tour sees a high-quality field head to the West Course at Wentworth for the BMW PGA Championship.

The twelve members of the European Ryder Cup team will all be playing this week, with one of Luke Donald's wildcard selections, Shane Lowry lining up as an 18/1 shot to defend the title he won here a year ago.

Viktor Hovland and Rory McIlroy will tee off as joint favourites at 13/2, and both will be plenty of support for them around the course and in the betting ring.

McIlroy looked set up to win the Irish Open on Sunday, before a couple of disastrous holes scuppered his hopes on Sunday, while Hovland will also be looking to continue his stellar recent form.

Pick of the three obvious market leaders, however, appears to be Jon Rahm, who has enjoyed plenty of success when returning to play on the DP World Tour in the past.

Rahmbo also boasts good course form and after not quite maintaining his flying start to the season, the popular Spaniard will be looking to take a good performance into the Ryder Cup.

Tommy Fleetwood is 14/1, but his struggles to get over the line make that price appear a tad low, while 14/1 shot Matt Fitzpatrick is also in good form.

Fitzy blew a big opportunity to win the European Masters at Crans, but his runner-up spot at the USPGA BMW version saw him produce the best of his brilliant game.

As we approach real each-way value, Tom Kim stands out at 22/1 after enjoying some good finishes on UK soil, including sixth place at the Scottish Open the week before tying for the runner-up spot at the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.

Ryan Fox found his form again last week to put himself right in the mix, and the New Zealander is a good enough golfer in these conditions to make his 40/1 price tag very interesting.

At bigger odds I like the look of a few rank outsiders this week, with Danny Willett standing out as a previous winner of this tournament. The 2016 Masters champion has become a victim of his own inconsistency, but as a Major winner and a previous title holder here, his odds of 200/1 appear worthy of a speculative dabble.

The in-form Hurly Long, who was runner-up last week in Ireland, looks to be a talent that is knocking on the door of a big win, and the same could be said for his compatriot Nick Bachem, who also looked good last week. The 225/1 you can get on both Germans could look very big if they can get off to a good start on Thursday.
