Min Woo Lee is hoping to get his fair share of support when he goes out with fellow Aussie and long-time home favourite Scott in the final group for Saturday's third round of the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship.

A round of 66 lifted the 25-year-old into the lead on 12 under but Scott's bogey-free 65 moved him within a shot at the top of a leaderboard at Royal Queensland which has 10 Australians in the top 13.

"Only a few years ago I was dreaming to be in this spot, especially to play with Scotty," said Lee, who is looking for his third DP World Tour victory and second on home soil after winning the 2020 ISPS HANDA Vic Open.

"It seems only like a few years ago I was in the Interstate Series watching him winning the Masters. It is cool to have him as a friend and play in the final group.

"I don't think (the crowd) is going to be split. I hope it's not split like that. I think I've got tremendous support over the last two days and last year, so hopefully it's going to be like that tomorrow."

Scott, who at 43 is considered a veteran now and has not won since 2020, is happy with where his game is.

"I'm generally pleased with all areas but I feel like my game tee to green has been better," he said.

"My striking feels better than it has been so that's very pleasing for me (and) good for the confidence too going into the weekend."
