* KEY MOMENT: Ben Hunt's remarkable mid-air grab to claim the match-clinching try in the 79th minute. As NSW pressed for a winner, the Maroons hooker grabbed Nathan Cleary's chipped kick out of the air from close range and sprinted 70 metres to score.
* MAN OF THE MATCH: Kalyn Ponga made light of the absence of Cameron Munster for the Maroons, putting in a star turn from fullback. The No.1 ran for 299 metres, made 18 tackle busts and three line breaks and scored a crucial try in the second half.
* TALKING POINT: If this was Josh Papalii's last Origin for Queensland the veteran prop has gone out on a high. Having barely featured in the first two matches, Papalii stood up to help the Maroons overcome the early loss of two players and complete a remarkable fightback. Denied two tries by the bunker as well.
* KEY STAT: Maroons debutant Tom Gilbert played 79 minutes despite starting on the bench after the early loss of Lindsay Collins. Jeremiah Nanai played without a break in his first Origin start as the Maroons' forwards dug deep to secure the win.
