Parramatta five-eighth Dylan Brown insists he's no hero for donating double his pay-cheque from a recent television appearance to children's charity Ronald McDonald House.

Producers of The Matty Johns Show asked Brown to feature on last Sunday's episode, but the softly-spoken Eels playmaker was reluctant.

After meeting with the Eels, who were keen for him to appear, Brown agreed to take part if his pay-cheque was doubled and donated to Ronald McDonald House, a charity supporting sick children and their families.

The Eels' association with Ronald McDonald House began 28 years ago, before Brown was born, but the five-eighth has become involved since his NRL debut.

He raised over $10,000 by bleaching his hair blond during last year's NRL season and has previously auctioned off his football boots for the charity.

"I'm an ambassador there and I give them money whenever I can help out," Brown said.

"There are kids who are sick and away from home, so any time we get the chance to go down there, I enjoy doing it."

Brown said his humble upbringing inspired him to look out for those in need, but maintained he was no hero for doing so.

"We never went without but seeing my parents work hard to give to us ... now that I've grown up, it's time for me to give back," he said.

"Anyone who would be in my financial situation, I'm sure they would do the same."

Brown said he wasn't alone in giving back to the community after making it in the NRL.

"There are a lot of boys who do good things and it just goes unnoticed," Brown said.

"I encourage them to give money to charities as much as they can."
