Eels out to avenge earlier NRL losses

Parramatta have the unique chance to avenge three disappointing losses over the next three weeks, starting with Friday's match against South Sydney.

In-form Parramatta second-rower Shaun Lane says avenging losses from earlier in the season over the next three weeks will give the Eels "the utmost confidence" heading into the finals series.

Beginning with Friday night's match against South Sydney, the Eels have the unique chance to settle the score with three sides who beat them earlier in the season - the Rabbitohs, Canterbury and Brisbane.

The losses were three of Parramatta's most disappointing performances of the year, with two coming when the Eels were ranked higher than their opposition on the ladder.

"If you look at our season so far, those are the three teams that we need to tick off," Lane said.

"We've beaten Penrith twice, we've beaten all the other good teams. We only played the Cowboys and Sharks once, they're the only teams we haven't beaten besides the three upcoming."

Lane said the Eels had the chance to put the defeats behind them once and for all and enter the finals series on a high with victories.

"If we can tick all those boxes, then obviously heading into the finals we're going to be supremely confident," he said.

"That's what you want, to be playing your best footy and having the utmost confidence coming into the finals."

Rabbitohs coach Jason Demetriou said his team won't be taking the Eels lightly, especially not after Parramatta's win over Manly in round 21.

"They played really good footy last week," he said.

"I just thought they played with a bit more energy.

"We played them five weeks ago so we've got our head around what we need to do but I think it'll be a tougher game than it was a few weeks ago."

Eels halfback Mitchell Moses remains sidelined with a finger injury but Demetriou said the win over the Sea Eagles proved Parramatta had plenty of strike power remaining.

"Their middle forwards punched the line a fair bit and created opportunities for Lane and his offloads," he said.

"I thought (fullback Clint) Gutherson was outstanding and off the back of that, (five-eighth Dylan) Brown was as well.

"We need to keep looking up and working our backsides off to get the two points."
