Manly coach Des Hasler has reportedly told the club he'll guide the team in 2023, ending speculation he'll leave as they plan their future coaching direction.
Stars Tom and Jake Trbojevic are "concerned" about staying at Manly as instability continues to rattle the NRL club, despite coach Des Hasler committing to stay on next season.
Hasler has reportedly told the club he'll guide the Sea Eagles in 2023, meeting their wish for him to see out his contract as they ready a new person for the job in a succession plan.
Speculation had swirled that Hasler might depart Brookvale this off-season, but a Nine News report on Wednesday night confirmed he'll not only stick around, but is willing to work with the coach who will replace him.
Former South Sydney and Brisbane coach Anthony Seibold is viewed as the top choice for the gig, with Laurie Daley also linked with a football department role.
Sorting the situation as soon as possible is a must for Manly, with the older two Trbojevic brothers expressing discontent with instability that has surrounded the club since the Pride jersey saga when seven players boycotted a match.
"They have expressed concern to me about the instability at the club. It has got them worried," their manager Paul Sutton told Nine News.
"They have not spoken to me about leaving the club but they are concerned about staying there."
Both Tom and Jake Trobojevic are under contract until the end of 2026.
Manly chief executive Scott Penn said earlier this week bridges would need to be mended for Hasler to return, adding more help would be put in place around him to try and drive the club up the table.
"We have a premiership-winning team, what we need is a football department who can get us back there as soon as possible," he told Nine News.
Earlier on Wednesday, winger Jason Saab became the first member of the so-called Manly Seven to sign a contract extension since the jersey drama that derailed their season.
Saab played his 50th NRL game during the season and said he was pleased to extend his time at Manly until at least the end of the 2026 campaign.
"Grateful to be remaining at this prestigious club until 26 thanks to God," he wrote on Instagram.
"Can't wait to get back out there."
Toafofoa Sipley the only remaining member of the Manly Seven who comes off contract at the end of 2023, meaning he is able to negotiate with rival clubs from November 1.
The other five - Josh Aloiai, Josh Schuster, Tolutau Koula, Christian Tuipulotu and Haumole Olakau'atu - are all contracted until at least the end of 2024.
