West Ham boss makes Kurt Zouma admission

David Moyes insists Kurt Zouma's knee problems will not prevent him from playing a full part during West Ham's run-in.

Hammers captain Zouma took another nasty knock on the knee when a Freiburg player landed on it on Thursday night.

The French defender managed to finish the game, but was caught ball-watching when Freiburg substitute Michael Gregoritsch condemned West Ham to a 1-0 first-leg defeat in their Europa League round of 16 clash.

Yet the Hammers will still fancy their chances of progressing to the quarter-finals and remain in the hunt for European qualification via the Premier League.

"There is a bit of concern with Kurt's knee," said boss Moyes. "He's had a few problems but he's been getting through the games, and he's fine and he's not really shown it in the games but obviously we know he's had some problems with it.

"But he trains every day, puts himself out there for availability and we've needed him because he blocks and heads things. I'm not sure if you look at the goal at Freiburg, if it should have got through, but anyway he's fine."

The Hammers host Burnley on Sunday looking for a first clean sheet since the goalless draw with Brighton on January 2.

"It's not nice," said Moyes. "We work hard to make sure we're defensively sound and I genuinely believe there's no successful team that hasn't got the best defence.

"Having that normally gives you a good chance of getting a result somewhere. At the moment we're not as strong as we should be in some areas but we're moving along and still getting ourselves in a strong position."
