 Alice Springs racecourse is located 7km south of central Alice Springs on the Stuart Highway and replaced the old Mount Nancy racecourse that had served as a racing venue since 1928. Alice Springs Turf Club hosts 31 race meetings during the year with the highlight as the Alice Springs Cup Carnival in May. The track measures 1960 metres in circumference with a home straight of 270 metres. Races are conducted over distances from 900m to 2000m with starting chutes for races over 1200m, 1600m and 2000m.
