This edition will take place at the Monterico track in Lima, Peru.
This is the top race in South America and while it is open to runners from outside the continent it is very difficult to send horses owing to a lack of agreements that would avoid the lengthy quarantine requirements otherwise needed.
The race is over 2000m on dirt and will have a field of 13 runners. The 14th runner and sole representative from Argentina was withdrawn as he's due to run in the US and to go to Peru would have left him short of quarantine time.
The 13 runners are from Peru, Chile, Uruguay and Brazil with the home team having the option of filling spare slots and thus having half the field. Chile, Uruguay and Brazil have two runners each.
The favourite runners appear to be Matarani for Peru who won their Anniversary of the Jockey Club over 2400m, so the drop in trip should suit, and Daktari for Chile who was third in their Derby.
