Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 07.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Ballarat, Port lincoln, Hobart, Sale, Sunshine Coast and Gundagai
BALLARAT: RACE 5 @ 3:02 PM
I'M AIRBORNE (7) was spelled off a narrow defeat at Murtoa and resumed at Geelong beaten 1.5L. He runs along and strips fitter. Rates best and the lightly-raced galloper should be winning. MISHIMA (3) resumes for the new barn and has been gelded. Disappointed heavily-bet at Echuca350 days ago. He's shown enough to feature but the time away is a niggle. BARGINO (5) is a gelded son of Manhattan Rain on debut for Symon Wilde. He could make an impact in a race lacking depth. Looks a gap to the rest with DOLLAR BUCKS (1) next best.
SELECTIONS: Backing I'm Airborne to win.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Ballarat Computer Card.
PORT LINCOLN: RACE 1 @ 1:15 PM
HEIDI HEIDI HO (1) has been thereabouts in her first two runs. Blinkers go on first time and she draws favourably. Expect her to be shedding the maiden tag in her third start. SURVEY LANE (5) has found the maiden win elusive but has turned in some solid efforts. Was well below his best last time out at Streaky Bay but was an eye-catcher two back here when beaten 1.5L. Best efforts can see him feature. WEALTHY GIRL (6) hasn't been able to make an impact in her two runs back but strips fitter third up and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside. In the mix. A Smaller case can be made for DANIEL MY BROTHER (4).
SELECTIONS: Heidi Heidi Ho the one to beat.
HOBART: RACE 4 @ 2:18 PM
I'M KEEFE (1) is speedy and went close twice before folding up badly here last time from a wide gate (vet cleared). Has a handy 3kg claim today and can bounce back. The one to beat. GEEGEES DOWN SOUTH (4) has needed the two runs back over this distance. May need longer now but he has more up the sleeve and this isn't strong. MARTINI BLUE (8) improved again placing at Launceston and it was a good effort picking up from back in the field. Finally has an inside gate and he's a chance. STEEL MIST (5) and NO ACCESS (2) have been around the mark and also have claims.
SELECTIONS: Backing I'M Keefe.
SUNSHINE COAST POLY: RACE 4 @ 2:54 PM
CAPITAL CHASE (1) cost himself any chance of finishing closer than eighth last start by making a slow start and it is a run that is best overlooked. His third in an even stronger field at Doomben before that was very good and he slides right down in class here. He is drawn perfectly and should get the confidence-boosting win that he has been looking for in this. On top. MODISTE (8) finished third on the turf here in the spring and then was immediately put aside to mature. She has been primed for his return with a tidy recent trial win and with the blinkers on for the first time, she should be right in the finish, despite a wide gate. MISSILE ONE (7) has carried her consistent form from her initial spring prep into this campaign with a solid effort for third when resuming at Ipswich just over 3 weeks ago. She strips fitter and has the right draw to be a solid place chance again. MISHANI TEMPTATION (6) is on the improve and will be peaking third up. Include in all combinations.
SELECTIONS: Capital Chase to win.
GUNDAGAI: RACE 6 @ 3:46 PM
TOES IN THE WATER (9) promising filly resuming. Can continue where she left off last time in when winning two-in-a-row in dominant style. Since fitted with a 900m trial at Canberra on March 29. Destined for better things and gets all the map favours today. KAPPY'S ANGEL (4) mixing her form and will find this more to her liking. Up in grade when shuffled back from an inside draw to finish tenth over 1175m at Albury on March 21. BROMEO (7) went back early from his wide draw over 1400m at Bendigo last time out before hitting the line strongly to finish fifth. Warrants respect from the inside gate with the claim. Has genuine wining prospects. LUNA ROCKS (2) returned from a lengthy spell with an eye catching second over 1000m at Albury on March 22. Goes just as well second-up and can play a leading role.
SELECTIONS: Toes In The Water to win.
BALLARAT: RACE 7 @ 4:12 PM
RICH CHAMPAGNE (2) resumed much improved over a mile and then led and was beaten a whisker at Kyneton over 1856m. He will be suited around here and fitter can form the quinella. FREDDY THE EAGLE (4) is a former Darwin galloper who resumed for the Wilde yard with a decent effort over 1600m. Meech is likely to position him forward and he should see it out. HONOUR THE SKILLS (1) will be around the mark measured on the comfortable middle distance win at Mt Gambier over this distance where he formed the pace. HERE WITH ME (6) could be close to a win after back-to-back placings.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Rich Champagne.
GERALDTON: RACE 9 @ 8:35
PMMAGNIFICENT CARAT (1) has gone under narrowly her past two starts and looks suited by the extra 100m she'll get today. Form out of her past two starts has been superb and ZJP takes 2kg's off today. Racing well and should be returning to the winners stall today. SAFE HUSTLE (3) has form that ties in through the top pick from a couple of starts ago. He's never missed the placings at this track and trip and while the wide draw is some concern, his recent figures suggest he's right up to winning a race like this. CHARLIE JANE (10) just missed over 1400m here last time out following a good run over this trip at Pinjarra prior to that. Form out of her last three has been fantastic and she has the speed to offset the wide alley. Will be in this for a long way. BIG CITIES (5) is ticking along fairly without a whole lot of luck and getting out to this trip should suit. Include. POP THE MOET (6) will probably lead them up and take plenty of catching from the front.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Magnificent Carat in the last.
