Japan Racing Preview - 26th October 2022

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Japanese thoroughbred meetings for October 26.

Japan Racing Feature Picture: Racing and Sports

NAR racing continues on Wednesday with Funabashi playing host to an exciting two-year-old Conditions event over 1600m.

Funabashi spearheads four NAR meetings conducted on Wednesday with the others being Nagoya, Sonoda, and Mombetsu, with each respective meeting seemingly offering up appealing betting opportunities.

With a field of promising colts lining up in the feature at Funabashi, it looks to be Harmony Roi and Savage who will attract much of the market's attention.

Mombetsu Race 3 - #1 Henny Let

Opting for a change of tactics last time out when racing prominently, Henny Let proved too hard to hold out in his breakthrough victory.

Drawn to advantage on the inside, Henny Let will be looking to go forward again in a race without a great deal of engaged speed.

Booking of hot-hand hoop Genta Ochiai is a big positive with the jockey striking at an impressive 28% from his last 50 rides.

Sonoda Race 6 - #7 Palais Faucon

While Palais Faucon is yet to taste success in his seven career starts, the three-year-old colt profiles well to get off the mark off a freshen-up.

Anticipated favourite A Shin Gluck will take a power of beating if he is able to transfer his turf form over onto the dirt at his debut attempt and will undoubtedly command strong market support, while Palais Faucon potentially sneaks under the radar.

Leading rider Tomohiro Yoshimura legs aboard first time and will be looking to continue his great run of form, striking at 36% from his last 50 starts.

Nagoya Race 7 - #3 Sun Mach

Enjoying a purple patch of form of late, Sun Mach once again looks a strong chance to score another victory with the white-hot Makoto Okabe sticking.

Sure to face tough opposition from Tempestas, Sun Mach drops back to 1500m for this assignment, a distance he has won at twice and placed three times from seven attempts.

Both jockey and trainer are in stellar form, with Okabe striking at 22% and T Tsunoda 18% from their last 50 starts.

Funabashi Race 6 - #2 BB Fable

Scoring comprehensive back-to-back wins over the track and trip, B B Fable looks awfully hard to keep out fourth-up from a spell.

The in-form Taito Mori stays aboard for the contest – striking at 28% from his last 50 rides.

Mori will have the option to settle his mount a lot closer to the action from the low gate and will be sure to be putting in the big strides at the business end.
