Arrowfield Shuttler Real Impact (Deep Impact) sired his first elite level winner on Sunday when his son Lauda Sion (3 c ex Antiphona by Songandaprayer) ran out a convincing winner of the NHK Mile Cup (Gr 1, 1600m) at Tokyo.

The colt provided the stallion with his first stakes winner when he landed the Crocus Stakes (Listed, 1400m) on his first start as a three-year-old and he built on that performance to beat Resistencia (Daiwa Major) by a length and a half.

Lauda Sion is out of winning mare Antiphona (Songandaprayer) and is the only stakes winner in two generations of his family.

Further back the colt's third dam is two-time winner Christmas Star (Star De Naskra) - the dam of Grade 1 winner Cuvee (Carson City) and Grade 2 winner Will He Shine (Silver Deputy).

Meanwhile, this is the same family as Grade 1 winners Olympio (Naskra), Tapizar (Tapit), Pyro (Pulpit), Untappable (Tapit) and Paddy O'Prado (El Prado)and Grade 2 winner Call Now (Wild Again).

The Shadai Stallion Station-based Real Impact - who has sired 26 winners in total - becomes the first son of late sire Deep Impact (Sunday Silence) to sire a Grade 1 winner.

The stallion - whose oldest crop in Australia are two-year-olds - stood at Arrowfield for three seasons, but did not return to the Hunter Valley-based stud in 2019.
