Armidale Stud-based sire Alpine Eagle (High Chaparral) recorded his first winner on Sunday when Alpine Wolf (2 g ex Copper Dancer by West Quest) scored a dominant four length debut victory in the Ladbrokes Maiden Plate (1009m) at Devonport.

Starting favourite, Alpine Wolf beat Lacerate (Charge Forward), with another half length back to Gee Gees So True (Wordsmith) in third.

Alpine Eagle’s fee remains at $6,050 (inc GST) for a second year this spring. He covered a book of 138 mares last year and stood his first three seasons at stud for a fee of $7,700 (inc GST).
