The Mapperley Stud-based sire Complacent (Authorized) left it until the final moments of the season to chalk up his first winner as his first runner Calm Seeker (2 c ex Attention Seeker by Fast 'N' Famous) made a winning debut at Ipswich on Thursday.

The two-year-old colt beat Amore Primus (Love Conquers All) by a length and a quarter, while Sienna's Choice (Love Conquers All) was another quarter of a length back in third.

The colt was purchased by MGG Jones at the 2018 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka May Sale NZ$10,000, before selling at the New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale for NZ$52,500 the following year. The colt was then purchased by his trainer for NZ$170,000 at New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale later on in 2019.

Calm Seeker is out of Group 3-placed Attention Seeker (Fast 'N' Famous), who is herself out of AJC Australian Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner On Air (Mi Preferido). Further back this is the same family as Perth Cup (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Sandwich (Zamazaan).

In 2019 Attention Seeker produced a filly by Rich Hill-based sire Vadamos (Montjeu).

A winner of the Spring Champion Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m), Complacent stands at Mapperley Stud where his fee in 2020 is advertised as NZ$4,000 (plus GST).
