Irish-bred filly Abby Hatcher wins Chicago Stakes

Acclamation (Royal Applause) recorded his 58th stakes winner on Saturday when his daughter, Abby Hatcher (4 f ex Sharqawiyah by Dubawi) won the Chicago Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) at Arlington Park. 

Settled between horses behind the pace, Abby Hatcher was taken down the outside when into the straight and ran down Club Car (Malibu Moon) to score by a half length. Dreamalildreamofu (Commissioner) was another half length back in third. 

Bought by Darragh McCarthy for €22,000 at the 2018 Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale, Abby Hatcher has now won three times. She is out of winning Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) mare Sharqawiyah while further back this is the family of dual Group 1 winner Poet’s Word (Poet’s Voice). 

Acclamation is based at Rathbarry Stud in Ireland where his 2021 fee was set at €27,500.
