Cesarewitch weekend at Newmarket

We are in the market for a new or sharper pin after this year's Cesarewitch.

But more of that anon.  Friday's G1 was the Fillies' Mile for the 2yos and Ylang Ylang finally justified our faith in her with a nice win over Shuwari.  See The Fire was third on 4/1 and Classical Song was fourth which didn't help our trifecta chances.

Saturday started off with a win for Ancient Wisdom in the Autumn Stakes over Chief Little Rock 7/2 and Ambiente Friendly.  Orne was 4th hoe and Arabic Legend 6th.

The Dewhurst saw City of Troy emerge as a potential star for next year's Guineas and who knows what else if he has a good winter break.   Alyanaabi was 3 ½ lengths back second and Eben Shaddad 25/1 third.  The soft ground didn't seem to be a problem for the winner although our pick Iberian didn't like it.

And the Cesarewitch – the jumps horses revelled in the going and the win went to The Shunter 14/1 from Pied Piper 9/2, followed by Tashkan 25/1 and Bashful Boy 100/1.

The Zetland G3 went to another Godolphin – Arabian Crown who handled the step up in trip without any problem and second went to Gaspar de Lemos but there were only 4 runners in the end so not much to write about in the little black book.

The Darley G3 over 1800m was another Appleby-Buick success with Highland Avenue 5/1 finishing first ahead of Silver Sword 22/1 and Raadobarg 7/1.
