2022 AUSTRALIAN CUP – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS
Pace solid from Callsign Mav going forward from an outside draw along with Think It Over drawn inside. A vintage Newmarket is followed by a less-than-vintage Australian Cup but in THINK IT OVER (2) the race has a potentially good winner. Remarkable development in Sydney over the past 18 months, landing a series of valuable prizes, including at Group One level. Fresh win in the Apollo was outstanding and he was okay on the heavy ground last time. Better footing looks a big plus now. Can peak and win.
CASCADIAN (1) won the Peter Young by a narrow margin but they walked there and he can step right up in a more genuine race. Should get that. A strong pace seems vital to SPANISH MISSION (3) who has been best in true stamina tests to this point but showed enough dash first up to think that he could give this a shake if the pace is true. Suspect the same goes for DUAIS (12). Caught the eye when clear last time and 2000m suits ideally third up. CALLSIGN MAV (8) looks the leader and that could be a plus.
