Heartening Flyer Primed For A Winning Return

Progressive sprinter Heartening Flyer is a horse bound for better things and looks set to make a winning return at Kranji on Saturday.

The Michael Clements-trained gelding showed plenty of promise in winning three of four starts at his maiden campaign, his only defeat coming when he was midfield against stronger company in the Group 2 Singapore Classic.

Heartening Flyer hasn't raced since scoring a fighting win over 1400m at this course last September and expect he will have improved since then.

He is unbeaten in two previous attempts at 1200m so this may be his optimum trip and he should be ready to fire fresh after winning two trials.

Jockey Louis-Philippe Beuzelin sticks with him having been aboard in all of his runs so far and the pair should receive a charmed run from the inside draw.

Heartening Flyer appears to be a horse going places so look for him to pick up where he left off and record another win.

Spirit Of Big Bang hasn't been seen for over a year but is a horse with a good record having netted a string of wins and placings last campaign.

He went to the paddock off two wins over a mile and while today's trip may be short of his best he should be able to sprint well fresh.

The six-year-old has three wins and three placings in six visits to this course and while he hasn't been seen since January last year, two solid barrier trials will have him ready to go.

Gold Star is another first up and he finds a much easier assignment than when finishing his last campaign by taking on the Group 2 EW Barker Trophy.

He wasn't up to that but this level is much more suitable and he is rarely out of the money at this distance.

The speedy Makkem Lad has been good in his two runs since a spell at this course and distance, leading throughout to win first up then giving another good sight when runner up four weeks back.

Possesses the speed to work across from his barrier and has the fitness edge on many of these so can be in the firing line for a long way.

Siam Warrior is working up to another win having placed at two of his past three starts and the 3kg claim brings him in nicely at the weights.

He draws wide but is a contender with even luck.

Good luck and happy punting.
