Best From The West: Ascot – 11th December 2021

The calm after the storm is the Perth meeting following the Masters Series but there are still winners to be found.

We have to give Midnight Blue one more chance after his odds on defeat in the Listed race two weeks ago.

His racing style is to get back but now he's getting to the right type of journey to show his best being a So You Think, who do take time to mature.

This shapes as another Perth Cup campaign and given he was very decent into third last year, why can't he improve heading into the target race.

There is no William Pike this week but Patrick Carbery had some luck in these colours last Saturday. He's in a good frame of mind.

The gelding gets a nice run from the draw and we want to back him to work over the top of them in the Towton Cup.

Earlier in the day, a horse that was more than up to running well in Melbourne last Autumn and was very competitive last Summer is ready to win again.

Dom To Shoot had placed in the WA Guineas and Kingston Town Classic before heading east to run strongly in a CS Hayes and also win a Mornington Guineas.

Well he's been a bit slower to work back into form at home but last time showed he was on the verge when just beaten over the mile.

This is an easier race and while up in weight, he should peak here. He's not facing many group horses this time.
