Catalyst wins Cambridge Stud N’land Breeders Group 3, NZ$70,000 at Ruakaka, 1200m.
In all sorts of trouble at the 300m, Catalyst ,the hot favourite, had to be good to get out and when he did, simply bounded clear, toying with his opponents to claim win three from four including back-to-back stakes. He was fourth early then fifth, one out to the 600m.
Rounding into the straight he was pocketed, was denied a run at the 400m, had to wait, was pulled out into the middle of the track at the 250m, then bounded alongside the leaders only to waltz clear, clearing out impressively by three and a quarter lengths.
Exuberant led them to the home straight, tried to slip them at the 300m, was caught near the 100m but had to watch the winner breeze by.
Zelenski sat third, three wide turning in, moved into second at the 250m and then battled away to hold third from Aotea Lad ,who just held on for fourth after being handy all the way.
