Chief Sequoyah wins C’church Casino Spring Classic Listed, NZ$50,000 at Riccarton Park, 2000m.
Chief Sequoyah went straight to the front soon after the start and bowled along in the lead quite comfortably around the bend and into the home straight.
He slipped clear from the 400m and kept increasing the lead, looking to win easily but a late challenge saw the lead shrink to three quarters of a length at the post for his second career win and maiden stakes win.
King Of The Dance was fifth last (rails) past the 1000m, improved slightly turning in, pulled out into the middle of the track from the 300m and rattled home for a good second.
Zentessa was back of midfield at the 600m, zig-zagged to find a run from the 400m then finished well but much too late for third.
Diorissimo was third turning in, looked to challenge the winner and was a clear second but was cut down late to hold fourth.
