Soul Patch wins Drummond Golf Vase, Group 2, $300,000 at Moonee Valley, 2040m.
The Ken Keys-trained colt Soul Patch recorded a very good win here, his third win in five starts and his first stakes level.
Racing in blinkers for the first time, he settled in sixth place, one off the rails, before tacking up from the 600m.
He dashed to the front on turning for home and then drew away to win impressively.
The Edward Manifold Stakes (Gr 2, 1600m) winner Moonlight Maid settled at the tail of the eight-horse field, improved well (deep) rounding the home turn, challenged on straightening and then battled gamely for second.
Serious Liaison raced fifth place, between runners, but was shuffled back rounding the home turn. He got clear on straightening and then ran on nicely for third.
Independent Road raced in second place to the home turn and held on for (7.1 lengths) fourth while the favourite Battenburg was handily placed, got an inside run at the home turn but then just batted over the latter stages for (7.8 lengths) sixth in a disappointing effort.
