Media Sensation wins Legacy Lodge Sprint, Listed, NZ$50,000 at Te Rapa, 1200m.
Last season’s New Zealand 1000 Guineas (Gr.1, 1600m) winner Media Sensation showed her class here fresh up after six months. She sat a length back outside the pacemaker soon after the start and camped there around the bend and into the straight.
Jockey Michael Coleman urged her alongside the leader at the 200m then she edged clear, increasing her lead to the line for a nice win, her sixth in total (third stakes) in eleven starts.
Ferrando jumped best and led all the way to the home straight before being collared at the 200m, yet under his top-weight of 60kg kept going well for second.
The first two were five lengths clear of On Point , who was last of the seven runners at the 800m, before moving forward into the straight to take over third from the 200m and then battling away to hold his position.
