Kirin-Railway Stakes, Group 1 : Ascot - 23rd November 2019

Regal Power wins Kirin-Railway Stakes , Group 1, $1000,000 at Ascot, 1600m.

Having his second run back after winning the WA Derby (Gr 2, 2400m) in April, the highly consistent Bob Peters-raced gelding Regal Power took his record to five wins (six placings) from 15 starts in taking out this Group 1 feature.

He was eased from his wide barrier (13) and settled in last place in the 14-horse field before improving (wide with cover).

He fanned widest of all at the home turn and then stormed home for an impressive victory.

The Godolphin-raced Best Of Days raced in eighth place, improved nicely (between runners) nearing the home turn, challenged strongly at the 100m and then fought well for second, beaten a half-length.

Platoon settled midfield (deep with cover), made a wide move at the home turn and kept running on well for a close-up third.

Achernar Star settled in seventh place, improved (wide) rounding the home turn and then battled on well in the straight to finish (1.1 lengths) fourth.

Samizdat was handy all the way and held on nicely for (1.4 lengths) fifth, while The Velvet King led the field until nearing the 100m before finishing (2.6 lengths) sixth and the favourite Tellem We're Comin was near last to the home turn but only steadily made ground to finish (4.3 lengths) tenth.
