Tahitian Dancer wins Magic Millions Nudgee Stakes, Listed, $200,000 at Eagle Farm, 1200m.
Progressive Shane Nichols-trained mare Tahitian Dancer advanced from recent wins in easier classes at Seymour and Ballarat to take out this Listed event in good style, her fifth win in 16 starts to date and her first at stakes level.
She was ridden patiently by Damien Oliver from a wide barrier and settled well back in last place in the 14-runner field, tracking a quick tempo. She stuck to the rails at the home turn, took a split at the 200m and then ran on well to grab a very good win.
Multaja settled beyond midfield, improved (deep) on straightening, looked the winner as she loomed at the 200m but could not hold off the late-closing winner to finish second in a very sound effort.
Epic Girl raced back in third place, behind a solid pace (set by the speedy Spirit’s Choice). She got to the front at the 200m and then fought well for third.
Misteed settled near last on the rails, improved between runners on straightening and kept making ground for a close-up fourth.
