Scallopini wins Bmw M8 Sunshine Coast Cup, Listed, $125,000 at Sunshine Coast, 1400m.
The consistent five-year-old gelding Scallopini took his record to eight wins and eight placings in 20 starts in breaking through for his first stakes victory here.
He settled nicely in sixth place, one off the rails, before moving up well on straightening. He got to the front at the 200m and then fought best for a narrow but good win.
Niccanova had a nice trip in third place before improving rounding the home turn. He briefly hit the front nearing the 200m and then battled on very well under his 60kg for second.
The Mick Price and Michael Kent (Jnr)-trained mare Persuader travelled well in fourth place on the rails, got along the inner to challenge at the 200m and then held on well for a close-up third with River Racer making ground from midfield for (1.2 lengths) fourth.
