The DP World Tour heads to Asia following a pair of South African tournaments with the bookies expecting a free-for-all at the 2024 Singapore Classic at Laguna National Golf and Country Club.
A par 72, 7,240-yard course awaits the field with ten par fours, four par fives and four par threes. The course could suit the big drivers in the field with 13 400+ yard holes including par fives of 558, 591, 616 and 534 yards.
South African Ockie Strydom is the sole winner of the tournament which was first held 12 months ago – he notched a 19 under par score, winning by one stroke from Finland's Sami Välimäki.
Poland's Adrian Meronk is currently the DP World Tour leader in scoring average (69.00) but now spends his time competing on the LIV Golf circuit. He is closely followed by Denmark's Rasmus Højgaard (69.05) - with the pair also the top two on the Tour in shots gained.
The Dane has finished in the Top 11 of his last five DP World Tour tournament appearances, with a season's best of second at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship in late January. He also boasts a trio of Top Eight finishes in his last three outings.
A Top 10 finish for Højgaard is 19/10, a can't-miss price given his form. Statistically he is first in putts per hole (1.67), second in average putts per round (28.98) and owns one of the biggest drives on the Tour at 317.6 yards – a recipe for success.
South African Brandon Stone could factor given the long holes on offer in Singapore – the 30-year-old averaged 328.04 yards per drive in 2023 and ranks 10th in greens hit in regulation this season.
However, his form has been dire in recent months, with five missed cuts in his last six tournaments. His most recent strong showings were a T6 finish at the Dimension Data Pro-AM and a T4 finish at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship.
That said, the world number 427 is a 19/10 shot to finish in the Top 40, a wildshot punt that could almost triple your money.
Those looking for a safer bet may consider some of the DP World Tour winners so far in the 2023-2024 season. Rikuya Hoshino won the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, Darius van Driel claimed the Magical Kenya Open, Jordan Gumberg took the honours at the SDC Championship and Matteo Manassero won the Jonsson Workwear Open.
Tournament wins are priced at 100/1 for Manassero, 50/1 for Hoshino, 175/1 for Van Driel and 300/1 for Gumberg. The only previous winner of the tournament, Strydom, is a 150/1 shot.
