Australian golfers Cameron Smith and Lucas Herbert will return home this summer to play in the Australian Open and the Australian PGA Championship.
Newly-crowned British Open champion Cameron Smith has confirmed he will play in Australia this summer - and he'll even let his family and friends sip from the famous Claret Jug.
Smith revealed on Friday his plans to play at the Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland from November 24-27 and the Australian Open at Victoria Golf Club and Kingston Heath from December 1-4.
Fellow Australian Lucas Herbert will also play at those two events.
Smith won his maiden major last week when he produced a stunning final round to claim the Open Championship at St Andrews.
The 28-year-old hasn't played in Australia since the 2019 Presidents Cup and is looking forward to spending time with family this summer while competing.
Smith, who has been linked with a possible move to the breakaway golf LIV Golf tour, plans to stay for Christmas and "just have a really good time".
In the days after his Open triumph, Smith confirmed the claret jug could fit exactly two beers in it.
When he returns to Australia, Smith is keen for others to have a sip from the jug, including his dad and his Wantima golf club in Brisbane.
"I get to keep it (the jug) for a year. I'll definitely bring it down to Australia," Smith told Fox Sports.
"And you know, all the family and friends, the people at the golf club who have supported me since I was three or four-years-old, (they) will get a sip of it. It would be real nice for everyone."
Smith's Open heroics rocketed him to No.2 in the world rankings, with Scottie Scheffler the only player ahead of him.
Now, Smith has got his sights set on the world No.1 mantle.
"I've got three events until the end of the season, I'd love to finish off number one," he said.
"I think that would really be the icing on the cake."
Meanwhile, Herbert is determined to snare title success on home soil later this year after confirming he will also compete in the Australian summer of golf.
Herbert finished a tie for 15th at the recent Open Championship at St Andrews - the second time this year he has produced a top-15 finish in a major.
World No.52 Herbert has twice won on the DP World Tour (formerly known as the European Tour) and once on the PGA Tour.
But he is yet to win one of Australia's premier golf events, a glaring omission that he's hoping to change this summer.
"It would mean the world to me," Herbert said.
"Australian golf is so important to me and to be able to win at home is something I have always dreamed of doing. It is a huge goal of mine."
